In the months leading up to the launch of Instagram’s new DirectV offering, we’ve seen countless posts from customers of directv.com touting their “paid promotion” for their directv accounts.
Now, with the announcement of Instagram DirectV’s upcoming monthly promotion, Instagram is trying to make the directv experience a little bit more appealing to more people.
Instagram will now allow users to opt in for the monthly “paid promotions” via a simple new button on their profile page.
This feature will be available for new Directv accounts starting tomorrow.
Instagram also announced that the monthly promotion will now offer 10% off all Instagram products, which includes Instagram clothing, Instagram coffee, Instagram bath, and Instagram nail care products.
The full list of products will include Instagram bath and Instagram shower products, and a list of brands including Dyson, L’Oreal, and Prada.
Instagram users who opt in to the monthly promotional offer will also receive the $10 in credit for every Instagram photo uploaded during the month.
As always, the $5 credit will apply to any Instagram photo that you upload within the month, so the only way to avoid getting the credit is to opt out of the monthly deal, which is not as convenient as opting in to a monthly discount.
Instagram’s Instagram Directv program is not currently available to users of existing Directv.tv accounts.
Directv has since confirmed to us that Instagram DirectVR is not going to be available to Directv customers until the end of April, but this may change after that.
Instagram has previously confirmed that its directv platform would offer new directv products on March 14, but the company has not yet announced the dates.
DirectTV’s DirectTV Live video platform has also been updated with a new feature called “Advertised Ads,” which will allow users of DirectTV.com and DirectTV Mobile to opt-in for a free month of directtv.com adverts on the platform.
DirectTV Live will also allow users who already have DirectTV Premium to opt into a new ad-free month of Directtv.tv adverts in May, with no adverts being required on the mobile platform.
DirectTV.tv has previously said that it would continue to offer free adverts until May 20, though this has since been changed to May 16.
The $10 credit will only be available if you choose to opt away from the monthly paid promotions.
The adverts will appear as “free” in your account settings, and if you want to cancel your adverts, you can do so via the DirectTV Directv app.
It will be interesting to see how Instagram’s DirectV.com feature evolves as the DirectV Live platform continues to gain traction.
